Cyprus has its own Judicial system which is primarily based on the British Legal System.
It is also subject to E.U. Laws since joining the E.U. in 2004. Whilst not all laws have been adopted (
because of the transition period allowed to new member States) it has signed up to many including
Human Rights, free movement, patent laws. It will also shortly going to be a party to the
Schengen
Agreement

It adopts the common law precedents system. If there is a lacunae then it tends to adopt higher
Court Rulings of the U.K.

Defamation  ( Libel & Slander)

Every person and organisation has a right to his, her or its good reputation. With the growth and
speed of universal communication, reputations are being easily and frequently undermined. We can
defend or institute actions for slander and libel.

Mediation, ADR & Arbitrations

Cyprus is leaning towards  Alternative Dispute Resolution in all its forms. The use of ADR is central to
part of its philosophy of seeking to achieve cost effective solutions to disputes wherever possible.

Mediation can be particularly effective in two or multi party disputes, where total costs can quickly
become disproportionate to even quite sizeable claims. The process of mediation can prove less
acrimonious, more flexible and creative than litigation or arbitration and consequently help to
preserve ongoing business relationships if a dispute arises.
